Ladies and Gentlemen,
The Singapore national pledge, required to be sung by schoolchildren each morning of their school going lives reads as follows:
"We, the citizens of Singapore
pledge ourselves as one united people
regardless of race, language or religion
to build a democratic society
based on justice and equality
so as to achieve happiness, prosperity and
progress for our nation"
Schoolchildren who are required by their teachers to sing this each morning are not aware, becasue of their youth and innocence, that almost every line in this pledge contains shameless falsities and untruths of which the Lee government is fully aware, and yet, deliberately, without any regard of the fact that they are deceiving young innocent minds, continue to make them utter this falsity, realizing fully, that they are doing a great injustice to them at a young age, being innocent children, into believing something that is patently false.
This deliberate and wilful deception on the minds of young schoolchildren by the Lee government is a crime and I ask them to cease and desist forthwith this deliberate deception on these children. I also ask parents of the children to ask them not to sing the pledge, when next they are in school, on the grounds that it is shameless lie, deliberately perpetuated by the Lee government.
We can take this line by line.
Pledge ourselves as one united people
There is no unity among the people. We have in Singapore a privileged class. These are the government (Peoples Action Party) supporters and cronies who are given given jobs, well paid and live a life of comfort, just as you find in all other Fascist and dictatorial countries who reward unconditional submission and obedience from its subjects. Then there are those who are unable to be card carrying members of the PAP either by reason of conscience or because they have more pride as human beings than those card carrying sycophants. These suffer from not getting the good jobs and financial disadvantage thereof. What you have is 2 classes, as expected in all Fascist societies like Singapore. The privileged government connected people and those who are not. There is no unity among such a people.

if u want to raise a child in a truthful environment, then forego the brightly painted rooms and nursery rhymes and let them up in reality like those in the streets of rio de janiero

Well, The Singapore Dissident got one thing spot on: the description of Public Education systems all over the world. Mankind has the cunning Otto von Bismarck to thank for the development of the modern public state-controlled education system.
This clever system is designed to choke every ounce of individuality out of an unsuspecting child, making them compliant to authority figures, and worst of all — symbols of authority, so that they'll turn out as blindly obedient automatons ready to serve the whims of their corporate and statist masters.
And I am told that now they encourage "critical thinking" in schools. Pig's arse.
Anyway, I'm attempting to write a new pledge. No one will be forced to recite this pledge, in fact, I would like to encourage everyone to write their own pledge, and if they choose to be a PATRIOT aka A DISSIDENT, act in anyway they choose to. Last time I checked, DIVERSITY ROCKS like a motherfucker.
So, I'll get started...
"We, the citizens of Singapore"
Slash and Burn! Immediate replacement: I, Sovereign Individual of Singapore ... much better!
"pledge ourselves as one united people"
Declare myself a unique and special being,
"regardless of race, language or religion"
I am free to choose my own race, language, religion and politics
"to build a democratic society"
I support the building a FREE society
"based on justice and equality"
Based on justice and DIVERSITY
"so as to achieve happiness, prosperity and
progress for our nation"
So that I may pursue my own happiness, and champion others to pursue theirs.

The All-Powerful State of Singapore occasionally slams its Iron Fist down, and casts a few hapless citizens asunder with a merciless brand of justice that would make Confucius reconsider some of his positions on state-craft. The government, which boasts "Integrity, Service & Excellence" does the whacking with just the right amount of force to deliver a frightening reminder on just who the boss is in this constantly strained relationship between State and Country (i.e. The People).
However, to be fair, in recent times, The Singapore State has "allowed" certain liberties. For example, the delightful activity of sodomy — that is anal and oral sex (in the Biblical sense) — can now be enjoyed guilt free, and free of any criminality. All you need is a dirty mind and a like-minded partner — or partners.
Before this party-pooping law was repealed, many citizens were turned into furtive criminals simply because they loved a rollicking good shag. The govt, true to its meddling nature stuck a "By Law: No Entry" sign on everyone's backside and a "By Law: Unfit For Human Consumption" on everyone's crotch — without the backside and crotch owners' permission, mind you.
And instead of being outraged and saying so, the citizens did nothing. The citizens are capable of disobeying the state when the law is clearly an ass, but they won't (generally speaking) stand up for their right to enjoy consensual adult activity. Perhaps its the fact that to most people, sexuality is private and personal, and very few would ever step up to the podium and declare publicly "I like oral and anal sex. I have a right to enjoy those activities". I might be expecting a bit too much...
But, be mindful of one thing: the majority of Singaporeans have NO PROBLEM in being governed this way. At the end of the day, when the buck-passing stops, the people always get the government they deserve.
To the progressive liberal social democrats in the audience — you folks forget that Singaporeans are as a political majority CONSERVATIVE, even though many claim to be apolitical. What I mean is that the values they hold are conservative values. None of them want rocky political waters. They like certainty, and they, as a majority, trusted the same government for decades.
Yet, the state has lightened up over the years, but there is light-years to travel yet before the society is reasonably FREE.
this is all part of singapore's braiwashing programme.
look at your young kids, they face so much school work, they have become stunt, are unable to discuss anything, hense they will become like their parents totally antisocial.
even from a language point of view, it is evident that have not been able to master any single language.
the little school boys are a puny bunch, so stunted they wear little girlies clothes.
so what ever they utter at school is all part of the overal programming.
and the worst problem of all is singapore hase bred a race of people unaccepted away from their shores. the island has not got a friend in the world, thailand hates it, malaysia hates it, indonesia hates it, australia lothes, and from a european point of view, you are just one big joke claiming to be the hub of the world.
Or worse in the streets of China with brain-washed citizens.
Singapore fares well if we compare with China and its snake-heads.
I used to freak out in goose-pimples when I said the pledge. So I made all the mouth movements (but no sound see) and the goose-pimples went away.
Now I switch off the TV whenever I hear the rubbish ....
You are spot-on, brother.
How many of our children really believe in the Pledge these days, seriously ?
When we were in school in the 70s, we probably believe relatively more in the Pledge.
But definitely, not now. NOT with us anymore and NOT with our children, initially to my despair and later NOT to my surprise.
2) If you do not believe what I am saying, please do a STRAW poll amongst your OWN children (you can include other children, too, if you can).
IT IS SAD BUT TRUE.
3) Equality ? : INCOME GAP is widening. I am not saying that we are naive and that everyone gets the same pay.
Now, with the unbriddled speculation ( WHY THE GOVT REMOVED the CAPITAL GAINS TAX that was implemented during PM Goh Chok Tong's time to prevent speculation ??) - we have seen again the repeat of the early 90s.
Who stands to gain?
Geunine buyers or SPECULATORS ??
AND the banks, Developers, the IRAS (increase in Stamp Duties) etc...of course.
4) In the papers about two weeks ago, a technology company was reported to advertise on racial basis.
Was this Company taken to task ??
This contradicts the spirit of the PLEDGE.
Hence, the PLEDGE which had orginally good intentions has now lost its meaning.
