THE STRAIGHT TIMES

It's a...It's a... Its a new baby blog.

SINGAPORE-- THE talking point in the political scene leading up to the General Elections this coming Saturday has been James Gomez's application for a minority certificate. Or to be more precise, his lack thereof. The Straits Times have focused on this issue for many days, with screaming headlines attacking James Gomez about his form. He was also alleged to have threatened an officer at the Elections Department with 'consequences'.

James Gomez was asked about how he felt about the entire saga. 'They are playing the race card,' he replied. When queried about what he meant by 'consequences', he promptly said, 'I meant what consequences it will have on me. And look at me now, the consequences of being in the limelight for all this truly undeserved media adoration.'

Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng continued to pursue the issue. 'This is not a simple administrative matter. It is a recalcitrant act especially when he has not filled in the form properly five years ago too. What is he? Stupid or something?' He was unable to accept Gomez's explanation that he was distracted. 'What could he have possibly been distracted about? The outcome of the elections is a foregone conclusion any way I look at it.'

Straits Times Senior Political Correspondent Chua Lee Hoong commented that there is 'more, much more, than meets the eye.' When asked about her point of view, she explained, 'Singapore's very foundations are built on form over substance. The idea of minority representation itself in a GRC is an excellent example of maintaining an appearance of minority representation. This is clear since minorities themselves cannot vote for who to represent them but have to make do with the James Gomezes of the opposition. To actually have James Gomez fill in his form wrongly threatens the entire structure of form within the GRC.' She continues, 'If the form is incomplete, we would actually have to look at the substance of his character.' It is her opinion that this would open the floodgates where all forms and appearances will be deconstructed in various aspects of the Singapore life. This will be highly destabilizing since 'we don't want to become like Taiwan, do we?'

The saga of Gomez's form continues in The Straits Times.

Just what the hell is this woman blabbering about? The man did not even apply as a minority, let alone "fill in his form wrongly".
So, now the entire institution of the GRC is threatened by Gomez? Wow, that's quite a stretch of an imagination.

    *scratching my head*

  7. Seem to be blank.

Don't be mistaken by that seemingly innocent paragraph about form and substance. It's a damn sneaky attack on the whole way our country is one big facade. For instance this GRC and its importance for minorities.

  8. I am also getting a blank page. Why what is the story?

  9. "When asked about her point of view, she explained, 'Singapore's very foundations are built on form over substance."

OMG, she actually said s'pore is about 'form over substance'? Does she really know what she is talking about?? She has just put down and insulted generations of s'poreans who made this country what it is today.

  14. Everyday, Gomez's issue is never out of news. Why? Bec "progress and prosperity" cannot progress at all bec i think they are truly lack of issues to talk about and continuously harp on this. Thus, there'll be no properity in the end.

They are not "clean" either anyway. They are like a big, nice apple but rotten inside. Really feel sick of them.

  15. GY today said that gomez could withdraw from the party and the remaining wp members could carry on with the election.

Didn't they said that in one party, there must be a minority representative? Now, the rule has changed. so, it means that pap can change anything at their whims and fancy. Then we can also expect whatever promises they made to change to empty promises uh?

  16. The other day GY could analogous the incident like "taking a big item out of a supermarket". Suppose he is too busy and never does shopping at all, uh???

So outdated he is! Doesn't he know that all supermarts nowadays install detector at the entrances and exits. Even for for smaller supermarts and other shops everywhere. No way one can get a BIG item out of the shop just like that. That means no one one can "STEAL" things from the supermart.

No wonder he is like an ancient man living in the past and harping on the issue again and agin.

  19. why is PAP doing this?

    It is easy, dirty politic.

why is PAP doing this? It is easy, dirty politic. Coz Gomez is in the Aljunied team, and PAP has sensed that they might lose to WP in Aljunied GRC, that is why they are digging the smallest mistake in the Aljunied WP candidate... To brainwash us through its PAP-media that WP is not trustable. What a LOW-CLASS GANGSTERS! They are like COMMUNISTS!

  21. during MAY day rallies not so long ago..maybe 10 years ago or so we use to have may day rally at the national stadium where singaporean workers amounting to 50,000 person would be present and ntuc chief would announce that we are the number 1 workers in the world..the last few years we don't see that anymore..it's usually held in a much smaller place like a theatre..u know why? cos there's no more singaporean worker working in factories anymore..if they still hold in the stadium today probably those sitting there will be indian or chinese or indonesian foreign workers who are taking over our singaporean job..can u imagine it?
