PAP electoral results history
Here's the data from the previous post in a convenient graph.
you can win a clean sweep with 40% of the vote if all the electorates have 3 candidates and the other two parties each get 30%; that has nothing to do with true or untrue democracy
how can the graph be correct if
ReplyDelete2001: won 25 of 27 contested seats, with 75% of the vote.
25 of 27 is 93% ;p

perhaps 75% of singapores population as a whole voted for PAP?
ReplyDeleteyeah. think of it this way. if 51% of the ppl in a GRC vote for PAP, who wins the seat?
ReplyDeleteso it is perfectly possible for 25 of 27 seats to be won with less than 93% of the vote...
In a similar way, George W Bush won the presidency but lost to Al Gore on in the popular vote.
