Seems that Malaysia is a more open society than Singapore. Imagine a film festival unhindered by regulations and laws that undermine freedom of expression. Imagine Singapore showing not just international films related to freedom but 'local' films.

Malaysia is indeed a more open society when it comes to political opposition. The Opposition such as DAP members are not jailed and unfairly destroyed by defamation lawsuits through the corruption of the legal system. The opposition has sufficient access to the media and elections are conducted fairly unlike singapore where the use of threats such as upgrading of public housing to force the voters to support the authoritarian govt.
ReplyDeleteWhile there is the problem of corruption in Malaysia, they are making progress of cleaning up the system.
Malaysia is making political progress and is leaving Singapore far behind when it comes to political development.
