And who led the coup-de-tats? Prem Thinsulanonda (current chief advisor to the most enlightened monarch, Adulyadej) and Chamlor Shrimuang comes to mind. (Sorry if the spelling's wrong - haven't been reading the papers for a long long while.) But with these ex-generals still on the political landscape, and their erstwhile subordinates filling the current military top-brass, the Thai military may be twitchy, but will likely not roll out the tanks.

Which means the nascent Thai political landscape is more democratic than our own, and only time will tell if, being more democratic, deal with politically corrupt governance more effectively. A lesson to be learnt unfolding before our very eyes, courtesy of Temasek Holdings. (It must be remembered, this is Thailand, once known as Siam, a kingdom that Singapore called Overlord, and paid annual protection fee to.)

But the question begs to be asked. If such an unstable political landscape is in the account of Temasek Holdings worthy of investing in, is it proof of adventurous investment decision making or a contradiction to the form of tight regime being insisted upon our own people by our esteemed leadership, (and just a means to keep the skeletons forever in the cupboards.)

Latest breaking news: The Thai military will indeed remain in barracks. The king has spoken; long live the king.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5539995.post-1144148307977061032006-04-04T18:58:00.000+08:002006-04-04T18:58:00.000+08:00Did Temasek mention that Shin's flagship satellite...Did Temasek mention that Shin's flagship satellite is a disaster too? IP-Star is supposed to be an internet satellite, but its got the highest stupidest orbit of any geostationary satellite — 2 seconds to get a signal from one ground station to another — you cant speed up light so that means 4 seconds "ping" which is the most laggy reply of any IP service you can imagine.

Sorry guys, but the duck looks like giving its final quack. They just bought a dead duck.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5539995.post-1143618962361717122006-03-29T15:56:00.000+08:002006-03-29T15:56:00.000+08:00All states are guilty as far as I'm concerned. The ...All states are guilty as far as I'm concerned.

The moment you get states fiddling with the private sector - either by nexus with business folk or running state-controlled commercial enterprises, you're in one unholy mess.

Who loses? The masses, the average folk.Ⓜatilah $ingapura⚠️https://www.blogger.com/profile/02652498247201967379noreply@blogger.com
